Education Bates College Founded in 1855, Bates is recognized 18th in the country among top liberal arts colleges. The 109-acre Bates campus is located in a quiet residential area in Lewiston. The college offers a wide variety of degrees, courses and workshops, in telecommunications, technology, automotive technology, electromechanical technology, printing, accounting, business administration and management, nursing, machinery, and office information management. CMTC also provides customized training for business, industry, and job training agencies on a fee-for-service basis. Maine Quality Center In conjunction with the Maine Technical College System, the Maine Quality Center is part of a statewide system to provide training for potential workers at businesses which plan to expand or locate in Maine. To take part in the Quality Center's programs, a company must create at least eight new jobs which are at a high skill and wage level. The project must also meet a regional economic development strategy and the company must meet a competitive strength analysis. Husson College The Lewiston Center of Husson College offers programs leading to associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration and accounting, as well as information systems and management. Husson's primary focus is on the adult learner and continuing education. The school offers both day and evening courses to benefit the student who works full-time. Mid-State College Mid-State College is a business school, accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. University of Southern Maine-L/A College Campus Through a joint effort of the University of Maine at Augusta and the University of Southern Maine, students may take advantage of expanded educational opportunities in this community. L/A College is the fastest growing campus in the University system. Over 1,500 students are enrolled in L/A College's wide range of degree and non-degree courses offered during the day and in the evening. Faculty and students interact with local businesses through internships and field studies, and serve as consultants to local firms. Lewiston-Auburn Adult Education Lewiston-Auburn Adult Education is designed to help workers acquire tools needed to reach their goals in the workplace by either attaining new skills or improving existing ones.
