Named "Short Line of the Year" by Railway Age magazine, the railroad offers access and a point of entry to southern and central United States, Montreal, Halifax, Vancouver and Mexico. Auburn's Safe Handling, Inc. is Maine's largest rail trans-shipment facility, with expertise to safely handle chemicals and food grade products. L-A was also designated a Foreign Trade Zone in 2004, providing qualified companies that conduct international trade an opportunity to defer, reduce, or eliminate tariffs on raw materials and finished goods.
